Switching Courses and Colleges Simplified by UGC

| Updated: December 29, 2022 12:15

The University Grants Commission (UGC) will discuss initiating operationalisation of the Academic Bank of Credit (ABC) with universities. During the deliberation the National e-Governance Division (NeGD) of the ministry of electronics and information technology will share the end-to-end flow and guide of the ABC for the institutions.

By using ABC, students can switch between institutions and programmes and earn requisite credits before getting the final degree from the parent university.

The commission has also instructed the universities/ institutions to register in the single-window ABC system.

What is ABC?

The ABC, implemented under the National Education Policy 2020, is a national-level initiative to store the academic credits earned by students in higher education institutions (HEIs). It will also facilitate students to maintain and transfer credits between HEIs and programmes.
