Two Terrorists Killed As Security Forces Intensify Crackdown In Kashmir

| Updated: May 22, 2025 15:25

In a major operation called Operation Trashi, two terrorists were killed in a fierce and ongoing gunfight in the Singhpora area of Chatroo in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district. The encounter started around 7 am on Thursday when security forces began a search in the forested area of Singhpora Chatroo. The operation involved a joint team of highly trained soldiers from Two Para Special Forces, the Army’s 11 Rashtriya Rifles, 7th Assam Rifles, and the Special Operations Group (SOG) from Kishtwar.

As the firefight escalated, the Army’s White Knight Corps confirmed on social media that reinforcements were rushed in to cordon off the area and intensify the operation. They indicated that efforts were ongoing to completely eliminate the threat. All entry and exit points leading to the site were immediately sealed to prevent any escape or civilian interference.

Initial intelligence suggested that a group of three to four terrorists was cornered in the forested zone of Chatroo. Among them is believed to be a key figure, Saifullah.

This encounter is the latest in a series of successful crackdowns across the region. Just a week ago, three operatives of the Jaish-e-Mohammed were taken down in coordinated anti-terror actions in the Nadir village of Tral, located in Pulwama district. The deceased were later identified as Asif Ahmed Sheikh, Amir Nazir Wani, and Yawar Ahmad Bhat—all natives of Pulwama.

Further back, on April 13, three Lashkar-e-Taiba militants were gunned down in the Zinpather Keller area of Shopian. Two of the killed were identified as Shahid Kuttay and Adnan Shafi, both hailing from Shopian.

These continuous operations are part of a larger and stronger effort to fight terrorism in South Kashmir.

The effort began after the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which killed 26 civilians.

In response, security forces have not only increased action on the ground but have also started demolishing properties connected to known militants across Jammu and Kashmir. This move sends a strong message to the terror groups that such activities will not be tolerated.
