Eliminating the conflict between UK and India – starting October 11, fully vaccinated Indians with WHO-approved Covishield will no longer have to undergo the mandatory 10-day quarantine upon arrival in the UK.
Travelers who have been vaccinated twice with Covishield or another UK-approved vaccine at least 14 days before landing in the UK do not need to take the Covid test before departure or the 8th day after arrival.
The UK government issues a statement on Thursday clearing that travelers only needed to take the Covid test on the second day, instead of RT to reduce the number of Red List countries to seven.
The decision was made hours after MEA spokesman Arindam Bagchi explained Britain’s previous decision to quarantine fully vaccinated Indians as “discriminatory.”
The UK had previously declined India’s Covishielf certification due to which travelers were treated as unvaccinated and had to be quarantined for 10 days on the expensive Covid test on the second and eighth days of arrival.
