UPSC Civil Services Result Out, Surat’s Kartik Jivani Bags AIR-8

The Union Public Services Commission (UPSC) has declared the final result of Civil Services Examination, 2020. A total of 761 candidates have been recommended for appointment. 

The final result of the Civil Services exam 2020 is on its website, upsc.gov.in. The Commission has released the list of candidates who will now join various central services in addition to IAS, IPS and IFS. 

Shubham Kumar, B.Tech in civil engineering from IIT Bombay has topped the list while Jagriti Awasthi, a B. Tech in Electrical Engineering from MANIT, Bhopal is the topper among the women candidates securing overall 2nd rank.

This year, UPSC had notified a total of 836 vacancies. Out of which a  total of 761 candidates have been shortlisted for higher postings. The candidates will be able to check their marks after 15 days of the declaration of this result.

The UPSC conducted the civil services mains exam 2020 in January 2021 and the interviews/personality test rounds were held in August this year, A preliminary test was held in October 2020 regarding this. The top 25 candidates this year comprise of 13 men and 12 women.

Surat’s Kartik Jivani did his primary schooling in Gujarati medium and then went on to do his B.Tech from IIT Mumbai. He was inspired by former Surat Municipal Commissioner  S R Rao and always wanted to be an IAS officer.  Rao got nationwide recognition for his efforts as he brought the city on top and one of the cleanest cities in the country after the epidemic. This is why he attempted UPSC for a fourth time despite making it to the IPS.
