World Bank Sanctioned Loan Of ₹3,000 Crore For Ahmedabad City

Under the Gujarat Resilience City Development Program, World Bank sanctioned a loan of ₹3,000 crores. On 7th April 2022, Gujarat Government announced it in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Bhupendra Patel, Chief Minister of Gujarat.  

During the meeting held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, representatives of the World Bank and the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) were also in attendance. During the meeting, AMC gave a presentation covering the outlines of several projects to be initiated. 

The ₹3,000 crores loan would cover various developmental projects. These include the capacity increase of existing STP and technology up-gradation, the building of new STPs, and the creation of industrial reuse tertiary treatment plants. 

The restoration of drainage lines and the building of new micro tunneling lines are two further projects funded by this loan. Another project funded by this loan would be the Kharicut canal development and lake preservation project. 

The World Bank team is staying in Ahmedabad until 13th April 2022 to inspect the various projects mentioned above. Based on these examination reports, World Bank will complete the loan procedures by July 2022.
