Around 40 people were found dead inside a tractor- trailer near San Antonio, Texas. The place was about 250 km away from the Mexican border with a ridiculously high temperature of 39.4 degrees Celsius.
The trailer was found near railroad tracks in an isolated area, KSAT reported. The vehicle was found by the agents of the Immigration and Customs Service which is also called ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement)
Anonymous official sources revealed that 15 others in the truck, including children, were taken to hospitals on Monday. The reason for their anonymity was because the information was not allowed to be released publicly by authorities.
This might have been the worst atrocity among thousands who have died trying to cross the US border from Mexico in the last decades. In 2017, ten migrants lost their lives after being trapped inside a truck that was positioned at a Walmart in San Antonio.
Earlier people paid bribes to mom-and pop operators to get through the unguarded borders. But, as it became more difficult for migrants to cross after the 2001 terror attacks, migrants now cross through dangerous grounds and pay more than before to arrive in the US.
Heat is quite a threat, considering how high the temperatures can rise inside vehicles. On the day the bodies were found, San Antonio was largely cloudy with a temperature of about 100 degrees.
The number of crossings broke all records in May, with a whopping figure of 2,39, 000 crossings.
The biggest crossing point for illegal entries by Central Americans and Mexicans is the border shared by Mexico and Texas.
Such kind of illegal entries have created a problem for Joe Biden and his government.
