Re-NEET Question Papers And Scores Allegedly Being Sold Through Telegram Channels

| Updated: June 3, 2026 09:23

Fresh concerns have emerged ahead of the Re-NEET examination scheduled for June 21, as several Telegram channels are allegedly offering question papers and guaranteed high scores in exchange for huge amounts of money.

The development comes at a time when the 2026 National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) remains under controversy following its cancellation over an alleged paper leak and an ongoing CBI investigation.

An application has been submitted to Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Police seeking an investigation into whether these Telegram channels actually possess genuine examination material or are simply exploiting students and parents through an elaborate scam.

According to reports, the alleged racket operates through multiple Telegram channels that frequently change their names and admit members only through referrals. These channels claim to provide Re-NEET question papers for amounts ranging from ₹60,000 to ₹1 lakh. Some groups reportedly demand up to ₹20 lakh in exchange for guaranteeing scores above 620 out of 700.

A Telegram channel operator allegedly told a Times of India reporter, who posed as the parent of a NEET aspirant, that candidates would need to pay a token amount of ₹50,000 and personally visit their office in Bengaluru. The operator claimed that students should leave their OMR sheets blank during the examination and that the group would ensure the correct answers were filled in later, guaranteeing a score of over 620 marks. The total cost for this alleged arrangement was said to be ₹20 lakh.

In another case, an alleged operator who introduced himself as a faculty member associated with a well-known coaching institute in Delhi told Ahmedabad-based activist Shubham Thaker that the leaked paper was genuine. According to Thaker, the operator claimed his network had purchased half of the question paper for ₹35 lakh and that the remaining questions would be made available closer to the examination date.

The operator allegedly assured prospective buyers that the network had protection from influential individuals and instructed candidates to transfer money through a QR code.

Thaker has filed a complaint with the cybercrime cell and urged authorities to take immediate action against the operators. In his complaint, he stated that the channels were misleading students by falsely claiming that the Re-NEET paper had been leaked and collecting large sums of money from aspirants.

Ahmedabad Cyber Crime ACP Hardik Makadia warned that cybercriminals are attempting to exploit students and parents by taking advantage of the uncertainty surrounding the exam. He said authorities are aware that some individuals started offering NEET question papers for money soon after the examination was cancelled.

Makadia advised students and parents not to panic and to stay away from such fraudsters. He stressed that these offers are likely scams aimed at cheating aspirants out of their money.

Police officials said some of the Telegram channels are already under scrutiny. One channel allegedly claimed to have collected ₹5.74 crore from nearly 7,900 individuals in connection with the supposed Re-NEET paper leak.

Cybercrime officials are now investigating whether these channels are linked to a larger interstate fraud network targeting medical aspirants across the country.

Authorities have urged students and parents to remain cautious and report any suspicious activities related to the examination.
