Ahmedabad Records Coldest Day Since 2012 On Monday, Temperature Set To Dip Further In Coming Week

| Updated: January 26, 2022 12:56

Ahmedabad experienced an 11-year lowest temperature at 6.7 degrees Celsius, recording the coldest day of January 2022. The maximum temperature also went below the normal temperature. Citing this, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) had already issued a cold wave warning in the parts of the state on Sunday. The weather forecast department had also stated a possibility of a further decrease in temperature over the week across the state due to the western disturbance.

The maximum temperature in the state was recorded to be five degrees lower than average at 23.6 degrees Celsius on Monday and as many as 10 districts experienced the cold at below 10 degrees Celsius. Gandhinagar recorded the lowest temperature in the state on Monday at 4.3 degrees Celsius.

Western disturbance is a result of cyclonic circulation in the Mediterranean border region of Africa and Europe. The movement of the cyclone towards the east results in snowfall and cold conditions in Gujarat. Once the western disturbance passes through, the temperature is set to increase.
