Air Travel From Ahmedabad Airport Set To Be Costlier

| Updated: November 2, 2022 5:22 pm

Air travel from Ahmedabad airport is likely to become expensive as the Adani Group is proposing a huge increase in aeronautical charges from next February.

The User Development Fee (UDF) is Rs 100 per domestic and international passenger. Ahmedabad International Airport Limited (AIAL), operated by Adani group, has demanded an increase to Rs 703 and Rs 1,400 respectively for the period from February 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024.

The UDF is paid directly by the passenger, whereas additional proposed landing and parking charges are levied by the airlines which fixes the fare.

The AIAL has submitted its tariff card to the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) for the period from April 1, 2021, to March 31, 2026. The task of the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority is to strike a balance between the demands of the airlines and airport operators.

The Adani Group has mega expansion plans for the airports it operates, including hotels, malls and other development projects.

The AIAL has also proposed a Variable Tariff Plan (VTP) for scheduled passenger airlines to increase Ahmedabad’s direct international connectivity by offering lower charges to airlines for the new sector.
