As Devendra Fadnavis was sworn in as Maharashtra’s Chief Minister for the third time on Thursday, his wife, Amruta Fadnavis, also gained equal attention both at the ceremony and beyond.
Speaking with the reporters, Amruta expressed her sentiments: “It is a beautiful day when Devendra ji has become MLA for the 6th time and for the third time he has got the CM post. We are happy about it but the sense of responsibility is greater.”
Amruta, a banker by profession, became a social influencer and has earned millions of followers on Instagram. She is also a social activist.
Her online presence is because of her engaging content, including reels documenting her interactions with the people of Maharashtra and candid moments with her family – her husband, Devendra and their daughter, Divija.
Her most popular posts include family portraits, such as a Diwali picture in which the trio wore coordinated blue outfits, which has over 156,000 likes.
From Reel to Real Life
Amruta’s charm goes beyond social media. Known for her visits to schools and neighbourhoods across Maharashtra, she actively engages with diverse communities, amplifying her grassroots connection.
Born and raised in Nagpur, Maharashtra, Amruta comes from a medical family – her father is an ophthalmologist and her mother is a gynaecologist. As a finance graduate from Symbiosis Law School, she began her career as a cashier at Axis Bank, rising to become vice president of its Transaction Banking Department.
Yet, her creative aspirations led her to explore acting and singing. Amruta lent her voice to the song Sab Dhan Mati in Prakash Jha’s Jai Gangaajal and worked on projects such as the Mumbai River Anthem and Tu Mandir Tu Shivala, dedicated to acid attack survivors and COVID-19 warriors.
