Punjab Police have cracked down hard on a Pakistan-backed espionage network, arresting yet another high-profile digital content creator. Jasbir Singh, who commands over 1.1 million subscribers on his YouTube channel, Jaan Mahal, was taken into custody by the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), Mohali, acting on precise intelligence that exposed his role in the covert operation.
Hailing from Mahlan village in Rupnagar district, Singh’s arrest marks the second major crackdown in recent weeks following the detention of Haryana-based YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, with whom Singh reportedly maintained regular contact. A Mohali court has remanded Singh to three days of police custody as investigations intensify.
Punjab Police allege that Singh was deeply enmeshed with Pakistani intelligence operatives, notably Shakir alias Jutt Randhawa—a person of Indian origin suspected to be working for the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
According to reports, Singh had close ties with Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, a Pakistani national and former Pakistan High Commission official in Delhi, expelled on espionage charges.
Authorities revealed that Singh attended the Pakistan National Day event at the Pakistani Embassy in Delhi upon Danish’s invitation, where he mingled with Pakistani Army personnel and vloggers. Disturbingly, he had travelled to Pakistan three times—in 2020, 2021, and as recently as 2024—further raising questions about his allegiance.
Reports added that forensic analysis of Singh’s electronic devices uncovered multiple Pakistan-based contact numbers, which are under the scanner.
Following Malhotra’s arrest, Singh allegedly attempted to wipe out all digital footprints linking him to ISI-connected operatives.
According to Punjab Police, Singh’s involvement is part of a broader espionage-terror nexus they are determined to dismantle. Officials stressed ongoing efforts to uncover the full extent of the network and bring all collaborators to justice.
Punjab Police’s official statement on X confirmed Singh’s association with Shakir alias Jutt Randhawa and highlighted his links with Malhotra and Danish. They reiterated that investigations are actively underway to expose and neutralise the entire espionage-terror network.
This latest arrest follows a series of detentions, with seven suspects already in custody for allegedly spying for Pakistan. Earlier arrests include Falaksher Masih and Suraj Masih from Ajnala in Amritsar, as well as 31-year-old woman Guzala and Yameen Mohamad from Malerkotla. More recently, Sukhpreet Singh and Karanbir Singh from Gurdaspur were apprehended for sharing sensitive military information with the ISI.
Punjab Police have sent a clear message: their resolve to root out espionage and terror networks is unyielding, and those betraying national security through digital platforms will face the full force of the law.
