The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe corruption cases following its landslide victory in the Delhi Assembly elections. The decision will be made at the first Cabinet meeting of the newly elected government.
On Saturday, Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva confirmed that the party’s stance on corruption is clear, stating that the BJP has “zero tolerance” for corruption.
“As Prime Minister Narendra Modi said many times, and so did we, the CAG report will be presented during the first Cabinet meeting. We will also form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate all corruption cases,” Sachdeva told a section of the media.
The BJP’s major success in the polls, securing 48 out of 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly, was credited to the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and BJP president JP Nadda.
Sachdeva emphasised that Delhi’s voters had placed their trust in the BJP for development, expressing confidence in Modi’s leadership.
Regarding the Congress party, which failed to secure any seats for the third consecutive term, Sachdeva stated that despite its historical significance, the party has experienced a major downfall and must “work harder.”
When questioned about the BJP’s chief ministerial candidate for Delhi, Sachdeva noted that the party follows a systematic approach, with such decisions left to the central leadership, as seen in other states.
