Brazilian Singer Dani Li Dies At 42 After Liposuction Surgery

| Updated: January 27, 2024 18:42

Dani Li, a Brazilian pop star who was also known as Danielle Fonseca Machado, has died at the age of 42 following a liposuction surgery that went wrong, according to various online reports. The singer had the liposuction operation on her abdomen and back, as well as a breast reduction surgery, last Friday, as reported by The Sun. However, she suffered from complications that required her to be rushed to a hospital in Curitiba, where she passed away. Her husband, Marcelo Mira, told the local media on Thursday that the family was devastated by the news, saying, “We are very shaken by all this.”

The singer’s relatives held a wake for her before her funeral on Saturday. Due to the large number of fans who wanted to pay their respects to Dani, the family posted on Instagram that they had changed the venue to a bigger place. They wrote, “It will now take place at the City Council Chamber, located at Avenida Fab, Nº 800, Bairro Central. The time remains the same, from 6pm.” The exact reason for the surgical failure is still unknown, and an investigation is in progress. Some sources claim that Dani Li spent around Rs 4 lak for the liposuction surgery that cost her life. The singer was famous in Brazil for her song ‘Eu sou da Amazônia’ (I’m from the Amazon), which celebrated her roots. She was born in Afuá, a town in the Amazon rainforest, and began her musical career at the age of five. She moved to Macapa as a teenager and joined the group ‘Banda Sensacao.’ She is survived by her husband, Marcelo Mira, and their seven-year-old daughter.
