Canada on Thursday announced that in the year 2021, the country has welcomed a record number of immigrants which marks the highest number in its 154-year history.
The Canadian government on Thursday announced that breaking a record of the year 1913 when 4,00,000 immigrants were provided the right to live, this year has achieved a record number of welcoming 4,01,000 permanent residents to the country.
The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Minister, Sean Fraser said that last year we aimed for it and this year we have achieved it. “This is a historic moment for the country, as we welcome the highest number of newcomers in one year in our history,” he added.
By 2036, the Canadian population will have over 30 per cent of the newcomers. Also, one out of every three Canadian businesses is today owned by an immigrant and one out of every four immigrants work in the healthcare sector of the country, he further added.
