Cases of crime against Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes have gradually increased in the years between 2018 and 2020, says figures tabled by the Ministry of Home Affairs in Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
The figures were tabled by Minister of State (Home), Ajay Kumar Mishra, sourced from the National Crime Bureau, in reply to a unstarred question by Telangana MPs Komati Reddy Venkat Reddy and Manne Srinivas Reddy. Cases registered for crime against Scheduled Castes rose from 42,793 in 2018, to above 50,000 cases in 2020. Talking about crime against STs, it rose from 6,528 in 2018 to 8,272 in 2020
The figures also showcased how many cases had resulted in chargesheets being filed, and how many were pending investigation at the end of each of these year
