| Updated: June 22, 2022 18:55

CBI has booked Kapil Wadhawan and Dheeraj Wadhawan of Dewan Housing Finance Corporation Ltd (DHFL) in a fresh case for alleged fraud worth Rs34,615 crore that involves 17 banks led by the Union Bank of India. The value of the scam makes this case the biggest that the agency has probed. The CBI has accused the duo of being part of a criminal conspiracy to cheat the consortium o banks.

The Wadhawans are already being investigated for their connection to a fraud case involving Yes Bank’s founder Rana Kapoor. However, the CBI registered the new case based on a complaint that was filed in February this year.

The agency is currently searching 12 locations in Mumbai that are believed to be related to the case. No further information regarding probe is available as of now.

Kapil Wadhawan is the former Chief Managing Director (CMD) and Dheeraj Wadhawan is the Director at DHFL.
