On Monday, Lloyd Austin, the visiting secretary of defence for the United States, claimed that China is bullying and coercing nations, threatening their national sovereignty, and trying to “redraw borders by force” throughout the world.
The US Defence Secretary stated during a press conference following a meeting with Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, “We face a quickly changing world. We witness China’s intimidation and pressure, Russian aggression against Ukraine that aims to forcibly redraw borders and imperils national sovereignty, as well as global problems like terrorism and climate change.
The significance of cooperative military drills between the US and India was emphasised by the US Defence Secretary.
“Democracies must now unite through our shared ideals rather than just our mutual interests. Strong leadership from the United States and India will be necessary to preserve and defend the freedoms that are crucial to peace and development. We still have a lot of work to do, but I am optimistic that the US-India Partnership will contribute to the Indo-Pacific and the rest of the world having an open and prosperous future.” he added.
