After Xi’an, China has locked another city after detecting a case of Omicron variant in the central Henan Province. Xi’an still remains locked down due to Delta outburst. And now, one more city has been locked and stricter rules have been implemented with a ban on vehicles and mass testing.

Mass covid tests are being carried out in Henan, a city with 109.52 million people. People are lining up in masses as they await their turn for the test.

Authorities in the city have asked the residents to stay in their houses and have banned the movement of vehicles.

On Monday, two people were detected with the contagious omicron variant and after mass testing another 58 were detected early on Tuesday. However, the 58 cases detected are not certain of the Omicron variant. Zhengzhou, the provincial capital of Henan said that all the non-essential activities will be closed including public transportation and dining options.

China has reported 110 local variant cases as of Tuesday.
