The number of corona cases has spiked once again in the world. As of now, the number of corona patients in the world has touched two crore, as 6 lakh new cases are being reported everyday. This has made people tense as cases are increasing despite getting vaccinated.
As per World Health Organization, the infection of omicron and its sub variants has increased notably. Between July 8 and August 8, 1.75 lakh samples were sequenced worldwide,of which 1.74 lakh or 99 per cent of the samples were found to be omicron variants.The Worldometer website states that a total of 59.71 crore cases of corona has been reported in the world so far. 64.59 lakh people have died. More than 1.94 crore cases are active at present. It is good though, that most of the patients only have mild symptoms of corona. Though there are 44,000 patients who are severely ill due to corona.
According to WHO, the corona variant BA.5 is spreading rapidly. The report released on August 10 says that there has been an increase in the number of BA.5 cases in a week. When earlier there were 68.9 % cases, they increased to 69.7 cases this week.
Other sub-variants of omicron, including BA.5, spread the infection by breaching the natural immune system and the safety provided by the vaccine. The infection is not grave in nature, but is spread quickly.
It is so that, 1,78,286 new cases of corona were reported in Japan and 284 died. Hungary also reported 16,249 new cases of corona and 117 deaths. The world reported 5,36,377 new cases of corona and 990 deaths today, according to the Worldometer website.
