While India has been hooked on to the IPL league and its playoffs the past week, there has been a marked increased in the number of cases. The country recorded 2,828 fresh Covid cases and 14 deaths Saturday, taking its infection tally to 4,31,53,043, while the number of active cases increased to 17,087, according to Union Health ministry data updated Sunday.
The death count now stands at 5,24,586 with 14 fresh fatalities. On the other hand, active cases comprise 0.04 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.74 per cent, the ministry statement noted.
An increase of 779 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours. The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.60 per cent and the weekly positivity rate was 0.56 per cent, according to the ministry.
Ahmedabad city recorded 18 new Covid cases, taking the active count to 119. On the whole, Gujarat in the past 24 hours recorded 37 new cases, taking the active case count to 200 as on Sunday morning.
