Drop-in Efficacy Of Booster Shots: CDC Report

| Updated: February 12, 2022 13:45

Anthony Fauci, White House chief medical advisor, says people may need a fourth dose to protect themselves from Covid and other variants.

Centres of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of the United States reports that the vaccine efficacy of Pzifer and Moderna mRNA vaccines drops by the fourth month. The study is recommending the citizens be updated with the latest vaccines to prevent severe illness and hospitalization.

Israel is the only nation that recommended a fourth dose to the adults to enhance protection against Covid-19 in January.

The new CDC study indicated the need for a fourth dose to boost protection from Covid variants. Some countries are yet to achieve a fully two-dose vaccinated population.

Further, the study finds that the booster efficacy dropped from 91% in the first two months after a third dose to 78% around the fourth month when it came to the protection hospitalization.
