Eighteen Injured As Delta Air Plane Flips Over During Emergency Landing In Toronto

A Delta Air Lines jet carrying 80 people made an emergency landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday, flipping upside down and injuring at least 18 people. As per the latest updates, No deaths were reported.

Endeavor Air Flight 4819, which had 76 passengers and 4 crew members on board, was approaching the airport after departing from Minneapolis, Minnesota. The airline has yet to release details on the cause of the incident or how the plane ended up upside down with damaged wings.

The jet flipped over during landing, injuring 18 people, including a child. The accident occurred in snowy conditions, with gusty winds reaching 61 km/h, according to Canada’s weather service.

Emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene on the snow-covered airfield to assist passengers. Video footage showed crew members helping passengers exit the overturned aircraft, while firefighters sprayed foam around the plane to prevent potential fires.

Officials confirmed two passengers were in critical but stable condition. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals, where they are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The plane, operated by Delta’s subsidiary Endeavor Air, was on its final approach when the accident occurred.

Delta CEO Ed Bastian issued a statement offering support to the passengers and confirming the airline is working closely with authorities to gather further details. “We are working to confirm the details and will share the most current information on news.delta.com as soon as it becomes available,” Bastian said.

The Canadian Transportation Safety Board (CTSB) has launched an investigation, with support from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). 

Authorities will examine the cause of the crash, with weather conditions and wind gusts likely contributing factors.

Passenger John Nelson, who was aboard the flight, shared a video on Facebook, recounting the terrifying moment. “We just landed. Our plane crashed. It’s upside down. Fire department is on site. We’re upside down. Everybody, most people appear to be OK,” he said.
