Tesla CEO and Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Head Elon Musk has addressed delays in implementing executive orders signed by President Donald Trump, attributing the hold-up to United States (US) bureaucracy. He criticised the system, stating that it is “fighting against the will of the people”.
Musk elaborated on the role of DOGE, an initiative he believes is crucial to ensuring executive orders are fully enacted, ultimately prioritising democracy over bureaucracy.
During the interview, Musk also spoke about his personal relationship with Trump, expressing strong support for the President.
“I love the President. I think President Trump is a good man. The President has been so unfairly attacked in the media. It’s truly outrageous. And I’ve spent a lot of time with the President. Not once have I seen him do something mean, cruel or wrong,” Musk said.
He revealed that he had always intended to endorse Trump in the race for the White House but noted that a recent assassination attempt on Trump “just sped it up”.
Moreover, he described himself as “tech support for the President”.
“I’m here to provide the President with technology support,” he stated.
“I try to make technologies that improve the world and make life better… It’s a very important thing because the President will make these executive orders, which are very sensible and good for the country, but then they don’t get implemented,” he added.
Musk also cited the migrant hotel funding issue as an example of how executive orders are often delayed. He pointed out that despite Trump’s executive order to stop taxpayer funds being used to pay for luxury hotels accommodating illegal immigrants, the funding had continued as recently as last week.
