Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias is visiting India on March 22-23. His visit will be followed by the visit of the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on March 24 and 25.
The diplomatic calendar post-COVID looks promising. The Foreign Minister of Greece is visiting India for the first time. India and Greece enjoy close ties which are rooted in a rich historical past.
Sources said that both visiting ministers will undertake a comprehensive review of bilateral relations and will discuss regional and international issues of mutual interest.
The visit of the Foreign Minister of Greece follows External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s visit to Athens in June last year. This exchange of visits will consolidate and further strengthen the multifaceted relationship between India and Greece.
Wang’s visit is part of an effort to put bilateral ties back on track after the PLA aggression in eastern Ladakh in May 2020. Wang will be meeting Jaishankar during the visit. Jaishankar and Wang met in September 2020 in Moscow and in Dushanbe in September 2021.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered his condolences to the Chinese people after flight MU 5735 crashed in Guangxi province. All the 132 passengers on board died in the crash.
