Gujarat BJP To Use A New Tech Plan To Fight Upcoming Elections

| Updated: April 4, 2022 21:21

The Gujarat BJP IT and Social Media cells on Monday organised a quarterly meeting with a new technology-oriented agenda to fight the December assembly elections. The participants were given a revised technology-oriented roadmap to master the use of social media during the poll campaign.

The meeting, which was attended by Gujarat BJP President CR Paatil, was held to guide the workers to become more technologically proactive in view of the elections, party sources said.

New technology, NFC (Near Field Communication) cards, were introduced to make secure connections with the senior party leaders of the party. Most smartphones are now equipped with Near Field Communication technology, better known as NFC. In a nutshell, it is a proximity-based wireless communication standard. Unlike Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, however, NFC interaction is limited to an extremely short range.

Notably, an ‘Interactive and Analytical Board’ was launched to consolidate the information, and then analyse and segregate the necessary information. The data sorted from this analysis will be converted into datasets, which can achieve a highly detailed understanding of the behaviour, opinions and feelings of voters, allowing parties to cluster voters in complex groups.

Such clusters can subsequently be targeted with online political advertisements that speak to their concerns and that are in line with their opinions. These online messages can only be seen by those voters in the targeted clusters. This is called digital micro-targeting.
