Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel announced on Sunday that Rs 462 crore will be allocated for the construction of ten railway over-bridges and one underpass at railway crossings throughout the state.
As the state is working to eliminate crossings, flyovers will be built over railway crossings in one municipal corporation area, nine nagarpalikas, and one underbridge in the Junagadh municipal corporation area, according to the chief minister.
This will not only save local residents time commuting, but will also save the nation money on fuel, according to the chief minister.
Anjar, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Halvad, Khambhaliya, Dhrangadhra, Anklav, Morbi, and Dhoraji will get two-lane flyovers/railway overbridges, while in Savarkundla, a four-lane railway overbridge is being built.
A railway overbridge at Joshipura and a railway underbridge near the State Transport Terminal will be built in Junagadh. The state government has set aside Rs 56 crore for this purpose.
“Under the Swarnim Jayanti Chief Minister Urban Development programme, 42 railway overbridge and railway under bridge projects worth Rs 1376 crore are being built. The Indian railway will contribute 50 to 75 percent of the project cost in 21 projects.”CM Patel said.
