50.92 percent of the water has been stored in 207 important water projects in the state due to rains in the state. In which the Sardar Sarovar Dam scheme, the lifeblood of the state, has 1,69,139 MCFT of water storage, which is 50.63 percent of the total water storage capacity. According to the Flood Cell of the Water Supply Department, As of July 16, 2022, there are 27 reservoirs across the state that have more than 100 percent water storage.
According to the reports received by the Flood Cell of the State Water Resources Department, 3,02,397 MCFT or 54.18 percent of the total water storage capacity have been stored in the 206 reservoirs of the state.
How much water storage in how many reservoirs
As per the water supply department, the state’s 41 reservoirs have between 70 percent and 100 percent water storage. 48 reservoirs have 50 percent to 70 percent water storage. 29 reservoirs (including Sardar Sarovar) have 25 percent to 50 percent water storage. 62 reservoirs have less than 25 percent water storage. Which includes 15 reservoirs of North Gujarat, 17 reservoirs of Central Gujarat, 13 reservoirs of South Gujarat, 20 reservoirs of Kutch, and 141 reservoirs of Saurashtra.
It should be noted that the state has 27 reservoirs with more than 100 percent water storage and 15 reservoirs with 90 percent to 100 percent water storage that are on high alert as a result of the rains. While 13 reservoirs with 80 to 90 percent water storage are on alert, 12 reservoirs with 70 to 80 percent water storage have been issued a general warning.
