Gujarat Registers 822 New Covid-19 Cases, Two Deaths In Last 24 Hours

Nearly after five months, Gujarat on Friday reported a total of 822 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The number of cases registered on Friday was the highest figure since February 18.

Ahmedabad was the highest Covid-19 cases reporting city in the state with 298 new cases in the last 24 hours on Friday. The city was followed by Surat city with 73 new cases, Vadodara city with 56, Mehsana with 41, Gandhinagar city with 32 and Rajkot and Bhavnagar registered 30 cases each.

Other districts in the state either registered daily cases count less than 30 or had reported no cases in the last 24 hours. There were total of six districts in the state where not a single corona cases were reported.

Apart from this, two Covid-19 patients succumbed to the infection in Gujarat on Friday. Ahmedabad and Bhavnagar city registered one death each on Friday. With this, the death toll in Gujarat has now reached to 10,953. Notably, in last four days the state has registered five deaths due to Covid-19. During 30 days prior to these four days, around only three deaths due to Covid-19 were reported in the state.

Total number of active cases in Gujarat reached 4,482 cases on Friday with a total of 1,821 active caseload just in Ahmedabad.

Moreover, according to the Health and Family Welfare Department of Gujarat, the state administered 5,782 first doses of Covid-19 vaccine and 11,533 second doses on Friday.
