Out of 7,823 students from Gujarat who took the PG NEET 2021, 60.25% (4,713) cleared the exam. Post Graduate National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (PG NEET) is an entrance exam test for admission to postgraduate medical courses, which was conducted on May 21st and 55.84% (1,82,356) cleared it on the national level.
A student from Gujarat named Nisarg Sahani has scored 2,690 and has an overall 7th rank nationally, said sources from the Admission Committee for Professional Postgraduate Medical Educational Courses (ACPPGMEC).
According to sources the cutoff marks have come down in comparison to the previous year. For General category students, 275 is the cutoff and as for the scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, other backward classes and other reserved categories the cutoffs are 245 and 260 respectively.
In the country, there are around 52,000 postgraduate medical seats, out of which the state has 2,100 in different branches. Due to their internship clashing with the PG NEET the demand to postpone it was high. Though it wasn’t considered, sources say that it is possible that after the ending of their internships the admission process shall begin.
