Heavy rains in Gujarat are creating havoc and creating hurdles in the daily life routine of the citizens. Vadodara has been receiving hefty rainfall since the morning, due to which the city roads have flooded and the clogged water has entered few houses in many localities. Apart from rainwater, the potholes on roads have also created a painful menace for people commuting through the city.
The city has received four inches of rainfall until now, and areas like Shantinagar, Heeraba Nagar are flooded. Every year these areas get flooded due to clogged water.
Additionally, the Waghodia district of Vadodara is flooded due to heavy rains. The district is reportedly facing trouble due to the flooding of rainwater in many areas of Waghodia. Supermarkets and other shopping centres in the city are also flooded, and the locals are also suffering due to waterlogging on the road near Bhuri Talavadi and the road of GIDC.
As per the notification from the District Water Control Room, at 8 am today, the water level of Ajwa reservoir has increased from 211 feet to 211.05 feet. After that, this level increased to 211.15 feet. The reservoir had 6271 cusecs of water when the level rose above the rule level at 8 am.
The water flow in Vishwamitri river was 4115 cusecs. In the message received by the district flood control office at 7.30 am, there was an indication of water entering Vishwamitri through the 62 gates of Ajwa. For water control at Ajwa, if the surface rises above the rule level, the water directly flows over the gates and enters the Vishwamitri. And there is no need to open doors.
