Israel Records A New Covid 19 Variant, Combines Two Sub-variants Of Omicron

| Updated: March 17, 2022 10:01

The Health Ministry of Israel said that it had recorded two cases of the new Covid variant. The strain combines two sub-variants of the Omicron variant of the Covid 19 virus, namely BA.1 and BA.2. These new variants were recorded at the Ben Gurion Airport, Israel. This variant is yet to be discovered by the rest of the world. The symptoms are mild fever, headaches, muscle dystrophy, and the variant doesn’t require much medical attention.

Pandemic response chief of Israel Salman Zarka stated that these combined variant cases aren’t much of importance as more than four million people out of a population of 9.2 million have received three doses of covid vaccine already. Israel has recorded a total of 1.4 million covid cases in 8,244 deaths.

Israel had recently announced that unvaccinated tourists will be allowed in the country as a part of easing the covid norms in the country. The country was facing a constant decline in morbidity data.

A prior effort to reopen the country was in vain due to the speedy spread of the Omicron Variant. Israel was among those countries to launch the vaccination drives in the December of the year 2020. The Israeli government is all set to provide citizens with the fourth shot to all the ones who are 60 and above, and the health workers.
