Malpur Mamlatdar sets Twitter target for Talati

| Updated: July 26, 2022 23:39

When 36 people die and another 88 plus are battling for their lives in various hospitals across Gujarat, we expect sanity from government officials.

However, mamlatdar of Malpur taluka in Arvalli district of North Gujarat does not think so.

In a letter issued by the Revenue Officer of Malpur taluka, DV Madat asked his deputy, a talati called BL Chaudhary, to increase the number of followers on his official Twitter account(@MalpurMamlatdar).
Madat gave him a target of ten followers per day. “If any of them unfollows, the next day’s target would be the number of unfollows plus a daily target of ten”, Madat asserted in a letter that he wrote on an official letter pad.

The revenue officer’s notice to the revenue Talati went viral on social media. However, there has been no confirmation from the Revenue Department’s side. One of Madat’s close associates claimed.

The letter asked him to implement the order immediately. But, the Revenue Department has denied the allegations and has refused to give any further statement.

The letter signed by D V Madat, the incumbent Revenue Officer of Malpur taluka read, “It is hereby ordered to B L Chaudhary, the Revenue Talati, to achieve a daily target of ten Twitter followers for the account @MalpurMamlatdar. If someone unfollows, then the target for the next day would be the number of lost followers plus the daily target of ten followers. The daily report of the number of Twitter followers must reach the Mamlatdar. There must be an immediate implementation of the order.”
