Ahmedabad has been witnessing moderate rainfall and random showers for the past two days and the weather is expected to be similar today as well. Scattered showers and some rain is likely later in the day. This weather will persist for the next two days as low pressure activated over the Arabian sea will reach Madhya Pradesh this afternoon.
Since the city has only seen moderate rains, the temperature has touched a maximum of of 32.9 degrees Celsius. Humidity in the weather has also intensified. India Meteorology Department (IMD) expects this weather to continue at least until July 20.
However, heavy rains may hit South Gujarat, Kutch, and Saurashtra in the next 48 hours. Moderate showers are likely in the rest of the regions in the state. IMD earlier said that heavy to very heavy rains might be witnessed across the state from July 22.
In the first 15 days of July, Gujarat has already received more than 45% of the season’s rainfall. Most of the dams are nearly 50% full, especially the Sardar Sarovar Dam which is 48% full. The data shows that the average rainfall recorded until now this month is more than double as compared to last year.
