Mumbai crime branch successfully nabbed four members of the Chhota Shakeel gang from Surat’s Rander area. Aslam Naviwala of Adajan Patia, a housekeeper with the Gajipara gang, Ilyas Kapadia, and Arifbeg Mirza, a resident of Surat since 2019, have all been arrested for a case filed against them. The police have been given permission to remand the four accused for seven days, while they investigate the matter.
The case was booked after a businessman, who currently resides in Mumbai, filed a complaint, accusing Aslam Naviwala of first not returning his money and then threatening him and asking for a huge ransom. The businessman, Faisal Noorani, said that he and his friends had invested Rs13 crore in Naviwala’s business, who had promised to return the money within 45 days.
However, he did not do so. Noorani, a garment exporter, said that when he asked for the money back, Naviwala threatened him. Naviwala instead asked for Rs50 lakhs and said it was ransom if Noorani wanted to do business in Surat. Furthermore, Noorani also received phone calls from people who claimed to be calling from Karachi and threatened him
Mumbai Crime Branch team, led by Inspector Sunil Pawar, had information and came to Surat. They were able to track down Naviwala and capture the four accused here.
