Authorities have temporarily banned Telegram ahead of the NEET 2026 re-exam due to concerns over paper leaks. However, fraudsters are now reportedly using other digital platforms to target students.
According to investigators and whistleblowers monitoring NEET-related online activity, several groups that were previously active on Telegram have started directing users to WhatsApp channels. These channels are allegedly spreading claims about access to exam papers and insider information.
The issue has gained attention after a video circulating on Instagram claimed to show the question paper for the NEET re-exam. The video reportedly shows a sealed packet, a question paper, four rough-work sheets, and details of a revised exam duration.
So far, there has been no official confirmation regarding the authenticity of the material shown in the video.
Activist Shubham Thakar said that the circulation of such content could create panic and confusion among lakhs of students waiting for clarity about the examination process.
Thakar has submitted screenshots, video links, and other related material to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the National Investigation Agency (NIA). He has requested an independent investigation into the matter.
He clarified that the submission of these materials should not be seen as proof or authentication of the paper leak claims. Instead, he said the purpose is to ensure a proper investigation and protect students from misinformation.
A request has also been made to the National Testing Agency (NTA) to verify the authenticity of the material and issue an official clarification.
