CBI booked Chief General Manager (CGM) and Regional Officer (RO) of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Digvijay Mishra in connection of a complaint of corruption against him. Mishra was caught while receiving Rs.10 lacs from the representative of the company.
He is charged with favouring the company engaged in the 109-kilometer Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway project.
He top officer was under watch of the agency and it emerge that he was unduly favouring the company in award of work and the settlement of bills as well as extension of deadlines.
CBI conducted searches at various locations in Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Pune, Delhi and Chandigarh after the arrest. They recovered alleged bribe money Rs. 10 lacs and Rs.22 lacs during the search.
In December last year, CBI had arrested another NHAI official Akil Ahmad in a bribery case of Rs 20 lakh.
