The Last Laugh ?: Imran Gets No-Confidence Motion Termed Unconstitutional, Asks For Dissolution Of Assembly And Fresh Elections

| Updated: April 3, 2022 13:55

The flamboyant cricketer of yesteryears, a goal-oriented philanthropist and a perseverant politician, Imran Khan is facing the toughest trial of his career – as Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran is facing the no-confidence motion against his government which came to power in 2018.

Imran has always enjoyed cult status in Pakistan. As a magnificent cricketer with matching good looks, he was loved by one and all in his youth. As a captain of the Pakistan cricket team, he won the world cup in 1992.

Imran lost his mother to cancer and he took it upon himself to establish a world-class cancer hospital in Pakistan. Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital is the fruit of his efforts. Princess Diana visited the hospital in 1996.

A heartthrob to many, Imran Khan married at the age of 43 Jemima Goldsmith, the 21-year-old daughter of the uber-rich British jew businessman Sir James Goldsmith in 1995. The couple divorced in 2004 and has two sons.

The second marriage of Imran Khan was short-lived and much messy. Married for a few months in 2015 to Reham Khan, a UK based journalist ended in all sorts of wild allegations hurled at Imran Khan by his wife. The allegations included insinuations of his preference for homosexuality.

Imran Khan is married to Bushra Bibi in 2018. It is rumoured that Imran Khan was visiting Bushra Bibi for spiritual and religious guidance. There is widespread unfounded rumour too which wants people to believe that Bushra Bibi predicted that Imran Khan would be prime Minister of the country.

Imran Khan founded Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in 1996 and ran for the seat of the National Assembly of Pakistan in 1997 from two constituencies but was defeated. From then till 2018, Imran Khan and his party PTI received little, no or moderate electoral success until the year 2018 when his party won a total of 116 of the 270 seats contested.

Today when his fate as Prime Minister of Pakistan was to be decided with all major political parties from his sworn enemy Nawaz Sharif’s PML to Bhutto fiefdom PPP and Maulana Fazal ur Rehman’s JUI against him and partners from his coalition leaving him one by one, making his position precarious by each passing hour, the cricketer with eternal fighting spirit Imran Khan has sprung the unexpected surprise with Depuy Speaker of National Assembly terming the no-confidence motion “unconstitutional”

Imran Khan has wasted no time in requesting the president to dissolve the parliament and calling for fresh elections. Watch this space for updates on the life and times of the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the nation of Pakistan, which was separated at birth from our own nation.
