Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for several development projects worth more than ₹60,000 crore in Navsari and Mehsana districts of Gujarat on Thursday. The projects cover various sectors such as infrastructure, connectivity, education, healthcare and tourism, and aim to boost the development of the region.
In Navsari, the Prime Minister launched projects worth ₹47,000 crore, including the Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway, two new pressurized heavy water reactors at Kakrapar Atomic Power Station, PM MITRA Park and Dream City. He said that he was delighted to be in Navsari and that the projects will strengthen Gujarat’s development journey. He also said that “Modi’s guarantee begins where hope from others ceases to exist.”
In Mehsana, the Prime Minister inaugurated projects worth ₹13,500 crore, such as Bharat Net Phase-II – Gujarat Fibre Grid Network Ltd, which will provide high-speed internet to over 8,000 village panchayats, improving digital connectivity in rural areas. He also laid the foundation stone for a district-level hospital and an Ayurvedic hospital in Anand, and the development of Rinchhadiya Mahadev Temple and lake in Ambaji. He said that these projects will improve healthcare facilities and promote tourism in the region.
The Prime Minister also opened the main academic building of the Gujarat Biotechnology University in Gandhinagar, which will enhance the state’s education infrastructure and support the growth of the biotechnology sector. He said that these projects will improve the quality of life and create new employment opportunities for the youth of the region. He said that he felt special to be in Mehsana and that the projects will boost the overall progress of the region.
Before attending the public function, the Prime Minister also attended the consecration ceremony of the Valinath Dham Temple and described it as a pilgrimage site and a seat of guru for the Rewari society. He said that his government has been working to preserve and develop India’s heritage as world heritage. He said that Gujarat has many symbols of the ancient civilization of India, which are important to understand history and connect the future generations with their roots. He said that his government has been making efforts to preserve and develop them as world heritage. The event was also attended by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
