Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the opposition on Friday, stating that credit-hungry politicians and those with an ambition to rule the country have done much harm to India.
Addressing a public gathering in Guwahati, Assam, ahead of the Bihu celebrations, PM Modi also took aim at the Congress, claiming that some people get disturbed whenever he talks about the development of the Northeast over the past nine years because they can’t claim credit for the growth in the state.
PM Modi asserted that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is devoted to the country and its people, and that commitment and devotion to the nation are at the core of its efforts. He added that power-hungry leaders who are only interested in lording over the country have caused significant harm to the people of India.
Highlighting his attachment to the people of Assam, PM Modi stated that his government works with the spirit of being the people’s servants. This is why the Northeast does not seem far to them and the feeling of belongingness remains, regardless of where they are. He noted that the people of the Northeast have taken ownership of their development and are moving forward with the mantra of development.
In the last nine years, the Northeast has seen significant infrastructure development, such as the establishment of its first AIIMS, and Assam has received three new medical colleges. Modi added that infrastructure projects have been a key focus, and everyone in the region now talks about connectivity-related infrastructure projects.
