Rajasthan: Prisoners To Sing National Anthem Every Monday

In the jails of Rajasthan state has made it mandatory for inmates to sing the national anthem every Monday The idea is to provide a sense of nationalism and responsibility towards society among the prisoners serving their sentence in jail. 

State DGP (Prisons) Bhupendra Kumar Dak has issued instructions to all jails including Jaipur, Kota, Ajmer, and Jodhpur to sing the national anthem every Monday in jail. Notably, the national anthem was sung by the staff and inmates in jails only on the occasion of Independence and Republic Day. 

At the same time, it has been made mandatory for every prisoner to sing the national anthem on Monday, after which the national anthem program will be organized on Monday under the supervision of the jail administration.

On the other hand, according to the order issued by DGP Dak, the theme of this programme has been to connect oneself with the nation by making the prisoners sing the national anthem in the jail, along with creating a feeling of being a proud Indian. According to the order, a weekly parade of prisoners will be organised on the jail grounds, followed by a collective national anthem.

Ajmer Central Jail Superintendent Suman Maliwal says that on Monday morning all the prisoners, employees and officers gathered at the jail premises and sang the national anthem. At the same time, all the prisoners also raised slogans of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ after this.

The national anthem will be played in small jails too. According to Maliwal, the national anthem unites all citizens and describes the importance and beauty of the country and this song is a symbol of harmony.
