Rajasthan Set For Weekend Full Of Rain And Thunderstorms

| Updated: March 4, 2023 16:25

For the next few days, starting this weekend, the weather in some parts of Rajasthan will undergo a pleasant change with wet and thundery conditions forecast over the Rajasthan state.

A north-south trough in lower-level easterlies is expected to produce some unseasonal rainfall activity over central and adjoining western India, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Southeast Rajasthan will experience isolated light rains from Saturday to next Wednesday, March 4-8. Furthermore, isolated pockets of light to moderate-intensity thunderstorms are expected to impact East Rajasthan from Saturday to Monday, March 4-6.

The IMD has issued a yellow watch over East Rajasthan for the next three days. The advisory urges the residents to ‘be aware’ of the local weather situation.

“There is a possibility of rain with cloud cover in the districts of Jodhpur division. Besides Jodhpur, the weather will also change in the districts of Ajmer, Jaipur, Udaipur, Kota and Bharatpur divisions on March 4 and 5. There is a possibility of rain in a total of 14 districts,” a met department said.

On March 4, light rain is possible in Ajmer, Nagaur, Pali, Jaipur, Tonk, Sawai Madhopur, Rajsamand, Udaipur, Dungarpur, Kota and Bundi districts.

Following, March 5, the Jaipur and Udaipur divisions may experience drizzling till noon. Thereafter, the weather may start drying up, and the temperatures will begin their upward rise from March 6 onwards.

Jaipur Meteorological Centre Director Radheshyam Sharma said: “An anti-cyclonic system arising in the Bay of Bengal, which is active in North India, is bringing a new weather system in parts of Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.

“The effect of this system will change the weather in southeastern and southwestern parts of Rajasthan. Although there will be no intense rain from this system, light rain may occur in many places, which will give people some relief from the heat.”

According to reports, the weather in some parts of Rajasthan began to change yesterday, with cloudy conditions observed in the Jaisalmer, Barmer, and Jodhpur districts of the Jodhpur division on Friday evening.
