The Supreme Court imposed a cost of 5,000 rupees on a woman who approached the Court against the demolition of “Corona Mata Mandir” in the Pratapgarh district of Uttar Pradesh. A bench led by Judge Sanjay Kishan Kaul rejected the petition filed by the woman named Deepmala Srivastava, who, along with her husband, had built the temple, allegedly on disputed land.
The Apex court imposed costs on the woman, saying it was an abuse of the process of this court’s jurisdiction. “We are of the opinion that this is clearly an abuse of the jurisdiction of this Court under Article 32 of the Constitution of India. Record Welfare Fund” within four weeks, “said the magistracy in its ordinance.
“Corona Mata Mandir” was built in the village of Shuklapur in Pratapgarh under a neem tree in the hope that the blessings of the goddess will help to fight the pandemic. According to some sources, the villagers have started to offer prayers to “Corona Mata” wishing that a “shadow of Covid-19 would never fall on Shuklapur and neighbouring villages.” The temple was built on June 7, 2021, and razed on June 11.
