Arnaldo Chamorro, the chief of staff at the Agriculture Ministry in Paraguay, has been suspended after announcing to have signed a Memorandum of understanding with the United States of Kailasa, a non existent country. He admitted to have been duped into believing the legal existence of the country which is an island declared as a country by Swami Nithyananda a fugitive Indian cult leader, who is pursued by the Indian authorities for ..
Apparently, the persons representing the “United States of Kailasa” met with Mr Chamarro and expressed their wish to help Paraguay. They presented their projects leading the official to sign an MOU which pledged to seek diplomatic relations between two “countires” and push from Paraguay for Kailasa’s acceptance into “various international organizations, including the United Nations.”
The document printed with the ministry’s letterhead and bearing official seal, have the Paraguay offcial hailing “the honorable Nithyananda Paramashivam, sovereign of the United States of Kailasa”. It goes on to praise Nithyananda’s “contributions to Hinduism, humanity and the Republic of Paraguay.”
Nityananda, a self proclaimed Guru is a fugitive from the point of view of the Indian legal system. Nithyananda is accused of several criminal charges, including allegations of sexual offenses. Nithyananda and his discourses are a rare blend of tragedy and farce. The spiritual mumbo jumbo uttered with astonishing aplomb by Nithyananda is quintessential meme material in today’s world. In one of the videos he is seen telling his gullible disciples that he ordered Sun to rise for 40 minutes late on a particular day and the Sun obeyed.
Paraguay’s officilas are not the first to fall for charms of the representatives of the “United States of Kailasa.” Two UN events in Geneva also had witnessed people representing the United States of Kailasa attending to the embarassment of the officials. The City of Newark in the US also was obliged to offer an apology when in a “regrettable incident”, Mayor Ras Baraka signed a sister city partnership deal and hosted a delegation from the United States of Kailasa for five days.
The fictional country, United States of Kailasa, is described as the “revival of the ancient enlightened Hindu civilizational nation which is being revived by displaced Hindus from around the world” on their website.
