SPIPA Launches 15-Weeks Course As Stepping Stone For Civil Services Recruits

In a bid to enhance the service quality of its officers, the state government has entrusted its primal training facility, Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration (SPIPA), with the task of conducting a Special Foundation Course for officers of Central Civil Services.

The valedictory ceremony, held on Dec 30, was graced by Srinivas R. Katikithala (director) Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), IAS officer R.C. Meena as the chief guest, Prabhav Joshi (IAS and Hon’ble Director General, SPIPA),  and other senior officers and course faculty at SPIPA.

Addressing the gathering of trainee officers, Meena gave a broad overview of the 15-weeks course. He highlighted how such courses are the need of the hour and congratulated SPIPA on tailor-making a study which has been cut according to role specifics. The senior functionary also highlighted the importance of including modules like a village visit, a trek, sports and off-site activities. 

Speaking on the occasion, LBSNAA director Katikithala added that the foundation course was in line with the Prime Minister’s vision on capacity building of the trainee officers, readying them to take up various key positions in the government machinery. To take the amrit kaal to higher laurels, he inspired the recruits to think of and deliver a citizen-centric administration and undertake a greater participatory role in policy making.

The occasion also hosted the presentation of various awards, medals and certificates. Accolades were handed out in distinguished categories such as director general medal, Esprit de Corps award, award for cultural and sports activities and academic awards.

Lastly, the trainees shared their views on the foundation course, which, would help SPIPA meet aspirations and demands.
