Surat has been chosen to participate in the 8th edition of the World Cities Summit (WCS), which will be held in Singapore from July 31 to August 3, 2022. The city’s mayor Hemali Boghawala will attend the four-day event, and speak about the initiatives taken by the government regarding sewage water treatment and the river barrage project. This is a proud moment for Surat, as it is one of the eight cities selected for the international event from the Asia-Pacific region.
In April this year, Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) gave approval for the conventional barrage project to be built on the Tapi river at the cost of Rs941.71 crore for water conservation. The summit will offer an international platform for the city to promote its developmental projects and highlight the efforts of the government.
WCS is an exclusive platform for government leaders and industry experts to address liveable and sustainable city challenges, share integrated urban solutions and forge new partnerships. This event is jointly organized by Singapore’s Centre for Liveable Cities (CLC) and the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA).
