BMW is all set to introduce Flow Electric SUV that can change hues at the touch of a button. From white to grey or black, one can change the colour of their car with an app just in moments.
The trick is achieved through specially formed wrapping made by e-ink technology just to fit the body panels of the SUV.
The panel surface has millions of tiny capsules containing negatively charged white pigments and positively charged black pigments, creating different shades. And after the colour changing process, the panels do not need any electrical charge to maintain the color.
This SUV can also change colours for specific panels and even that of the wheels.
Adrian van Hooydonk, the Head of Design describes this concept as ‘an advanced research and design project.’ There are no plans to put this sort of technology to production yet. The primary motive behind this technology is to make the driver feel like the car reflects their personality. While another reason is to maintain a temperature balance. On warm days, a white body can keep the car cool and vice versa on cold days.
