Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s pre-wedding festivities in Jamnagar held recently attracted a great deal of attention nationally and internationally. From Bollywood stars to global business leaders, the guest list contained many really big names.
Apart from all the pomp and show, the Ambanis did not hold back in showering their guests with expensive gifts as well. According to sources, the Ambani family ensured that all the guests were given Louis Vuitton bags, gold chains, designer footwear and even nightwear.
Moreover, as a tribute to Vantara, the animal rehabilitation centre, all the guests were gifted with a custom-designed duffle bag created by Bombay Artisan Co. The handcrafted bags were reportedly made from cruelty-free leather.
Heritage creations
The guests also received special candles from Sunrise Candles, a Mahabaleshwar-based company that employs visually impaired artists. The Ambani family commissioned skilled women artisans from Kachchh and Lalpur to weave ‘Bandhani’ and ‘Pethani’ scarves for guests.
The guests were also treated to incredible performances and a variety of cuisines during the festivities. The Ambani family is known for its ostentatious lifestyle. For the occasion, they built new temples in Jamnagar and set up a rehabilitation centre for rescue animals.
Mukesh Ambani, the groom’s father, was recently ranked as the 10th richest person in the world by Forbes. The chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries, reportedly has a net worth of USD 113.7 billion.
His children Akask, Isha and Anant joined the Reliance board in 2023, with Akash heading Jio, Isha overseeing retail and financial services, and Anant looking after the energy business.
The international media lapped up all the glitz and glamour. They focussed on how Meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg eyed Anant Ambani’s pricey Richard Mille watch. Rihanna’s multi-million dollar performance was also widely covered.
