Former US President Donald Trump allegedly failed to disclose gifts totalling USD 250,000 given to the First Family by foreign leaders, including USD 47,000 in gifts from Indian leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the then-President Ram Nath Kovind, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Aditya Nath.

The report is titled Saudi Swords, Indian Jewelry, and a Larger-than-Life Salvadoran Portrait of Donald Trump: The Trump administration’s Failure to Disclose Major Foreign Gifts.

The inquiry into whether former President Trump disclosed gifts from foreign officials while in office as required by the Foreign Gifts and Decorations Act is still ongoing, and the report summarises preliminary findings.

Republican Donald Trump presided over the nation as its 45th president from 2017 until 2021.

According to Congressman Jamie Raskin, the ranking member of the Committee on Oversight and Accountability, committee Democrats are committed to finding the final location of these missing expensive gifts, including golf clubs, the enormous custom portrait of Donald Trump from El Salvador, and other possibly unreported items, as well as whether they may have been used to influence the president in the course of US foreign policy.

The First Family and Donald Trump, 76, are accused of failing to disclose more than 100 foreign gifts with a combined worth of over $250,000, according to the report.

A report detailing severe issues within the Office of the Chief of Protocol under the Trump administration, including missing objects of great value, was released in November 2021 by the State Department’s Office of the Inspector General.

According to the report, the loss of the gifts was a result of inadequate documentation and physical security measures. The documents, according to the report, showed that the Trump family got 17 undisclosed presents from India with a total estimated value of about $47,000.

The former president Kovind gave a USD 6,600 Indian rug, Yogi Adityanath gave a USD 8,500 vase and a USD 4,600 model of the Taj Mahal. PM Modi gave a USD 1,900 pair of cufflinks.
