Turkey Quake: India Comes Forward To Assist Earthquake-Ridden Country

| Updated: February 8, 2023 12:53

The fourth batch of humanitarian aid from India was flown to Turkey in an aircraft operated by the Indian Air Force, along with 54 members of the Indian Army’s medical team.

Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi tweeted, “The fourth @IAF_MCC aircraft leaves for Turkiye with the remaining component of the field hospital. This includes 54 members of the Indian Army medical team as well as medical and other equipment to establish the facility.”

India has already delivered three batches of medical help to Turkey in response to the two terrible earthquakes that struck the nation on Monday, each of which claimed 3,703 lives. India is also offering its assistance to Turkey in the current situation following that earthquake.

Bagchi, earlier, tweeted, “India dispatches an @adgpi field hospital to Turkiye to establish a 30 bedded medical facility. Its first component has left on @IAF_MCC C17 with a 45-member medical team, including critical care specialists & surgeons. Also has an X-ray machine, ventilators, OT & other equipment.”

Adana in Turkey’s earthquake-stricken country was earlier visited by an Indian Air Force plane delivering the first shipment of disaster relief supplies and a rescue squad to aid in search and rescue operations.

Early this morning, the C17 flight headed for Turkey with more than 50 members of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), a specially trained dog squad, and the tools needed for the relief activities, including medical supplies, drilling machines, and other equipment.

Taking to Twitter, Jaishankar wrote, “First Indian C17 flight with more than 50 @NDRFHQ Search & Rescue personnel, specially trained dog squads, drilling machines, relief material, medicines, and other necessary utilities & equipment reaches Adana, Turkiye.”

A meeting was convened and it was decided that the NDRF’s search and rescue teams, medical teams, and relief supplies would be sent out straight away in cooperation with the Turkish government, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on Monday. After a devastating earthquake devastated lives in the nation, a number of other nations have stepped forward to help and support Turkey.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that India is ready to provide all possible help to the earthquake-affected people in Turkey. PM Modi was addressing the gathering in Bengaluru, Karnataka, during the India Energy Week 2023 event. He also recalled the disastrous earthquake that struck Bhuj, which left thousands dead.
