Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel marked the festival of Holi with fellow party members on Monday at the BJP’s Gandhinagar Lok Sabha office, located in the Thaltej area.
The celebration saw Shah and Patel applying colours to various party leaders, including Rajya Sabha MP Mayant Nayak, MLA Amit Thakar, Gandhinagar Mayor Hitesh Makwana, Gujarat BJP’s general secretary KC Patel and members of the women’s wing.
Shah took the opportunity to reflect on the recent consecration of the Ram Temple idol in Ayodhya on January 22. He highlighted that this year’s Holi held special significance for all devotees of Lord Ram, as it marked the first time in 500 years that the deity was celebrating the festival of colours.
Quoting an old folk song, Shah expressed, “Holi Khele Raghuveera Avadh Mae… Now after 500 years, Raghuveer is playing Holi at Avadh. This is a matter of great joy for everyone. My greetings to all the citizens on the occasion of Holi.”
Shah, who has been renominated from Gandhinagar, also addressed party workers involved in his election campaign. He urged them to maintain a high level of visibility among the public, reminding them that their visibility is more crucial than that of the candidate.
It is worth noting that Shah won the Gandhinagar constituency in 2019 by a substantial margin of over 5 lakh votes.
